Max Planck Society Digital Music Survey

Max Planck Society & FOEM Digital Music Survey

We would like to invite you to take part in research on the evolution of digital music and the internet. The research is part of a bigger project, initiated by The Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne 2008.

The survey was developed by The Max Planck Society in cooperation with The Academy for Humanities and Economics in Lodz (Poland) and FOEM. The research project was consulted during conferences and workshops at The Oxford Internet Institute, Roskilde University and Panteion University. The project leader is Dr. Patryk Galuszka. He holds a Phd in Economics and specializes in Cultural Industries.

max_planck_logo_FOEMOur aim is to analyze current internet music trends and development. Over the past several years the music industry has been turned upside down. The business models that had worked have now suddenly and irrevocably become obsolete. The effects of this have spread beyond the music industry, affecting film, radio and print. The music business was the harbinger of these rapid changes, it's new rules will become the guidelines of how new business models will be developed for film, radio, print and beyond.

The complete and finished project will be released at no charge in PDF format under a free license on the internet. FOEM members will be informed about the study via FOEM's newsletter service.

If you are a musical artist, if you run an internet service related to music or if you are simply a music lover, please take the time to fill out the survey. The survey is not long and should take you from 5 to 15 minutes. All information you provide will remain confidential and will only be used for the survey.

The survey will be online here until the end of September 2009. Please, help us to find the new model of how our music world will develop.
